According to INDEXDOTCOM, Utah has a rich and vibrant history that dates back to the ancient Native American tribes who inhabited the region prior to European settlement. The first Europeans to explore Utah were Spanish explorers in the 16th century, though it was not until 1847 that Mormon pioneers led by Brigham Young established the first permanent settlement in what is now Salt Lake City. The early years of Utah’s history were marked by conflict between Native Americans and settlers, as well as between Mormon settlers and other non-Mormon newcomers. In 1858, a federal expeditionary force was sent to Utah in response to reports of an uprising among the Mormons. This resulted in what is now known as the “Utah War” which ended with a peaceful resolution. In 1896, Utah became the 45th state admitted into the Union and since then it has become an important part of America’s cultural and economic landscape. Today, Utah is home to numerous national parks and monuments, several large metropolitan areas, and a vibrant culture that celebrates its unique history. Check Agooddir for more about Utah.
